Colt Brennan

What a mess. The game was encompassed by negative energy from the start as both Channel 9 and Comcast Sports Net had technical difficulties with their production of The Redskins broadcast. To mask these difficulties they decided to inundate Redskin fans with 15 minutes of straight commercials. After a while, I too started to feel for the endangered Orangutans. Watching 15 minutes of straight commercials is irritating enough. But watching The Washington Redskins get completely dismantled by the Carolina Panthers 47-3 in their fourth, and most important, pre-season game is down right excruciating. When coaches take the time to set up a game plan for an opponent, you don’t expect to lose by 44 points. When you play your best players an entire half, you don’t expect to lose by 44 points. So why the hell did we lose by 44 points?!

Colt to Bolt: Future Westcoast Connection?

by Dr. Gonzo on August 18, 2008

I would like to preface this post by saying that I am well aware of how absurd this sounds. I guess I’m just trying to milk this Colt Brennan thing for all its worth.

The DC Sports Pulse Week in Review

by Rooster on August 18, 2008

Monday’s are lame. Whatever your occupation Monday usually signifies the start of you actually being productive again. To offset this lameness I have decided to add another weekly section to the DC Sports Pulse. Every Monday I plan on doing a week in review of all things sports focusing on top national stories while adding a little local flavor. This way you can check up on your sports news while you herb it up at work. So here it is, short and sweet:

Usain Bolt Breaks World Record in 100m.
Usain Bolt set a world record time of 9.69 in the 100 meter dash after skipping breakfast and scarfing down some chicken nuggets. Bolt was so far ahead in the final 20 meters that he threw his arms out in celebration. I used to find it absolutely hilarious when I would see athletes consuming a Big Mac on McDonald’s commercials, as if fastfood was going to turn young kids into world class athletes. No more. In fact, I plan on going to a strictly nugget diet for the next month. Who needs steroids when you’ve got chicken nuggets?!

Brennan Shines on Birthday

by Rooster on August 17, 2008

Again, we will have more pictures from last night’s game up at some point today. Dr.Gonzo had to make the drive home from the meadowlands last night and is now doubt getting some much needed rest. That leaves me to touch on Colt Brennan’s performance at the end of the game.

Colt Brennan continued his gunslingin’ ways in the fourth quarter of the Jets preseason game yesterday throwing the game winning touchdown pass to former Terp Jason Goode in the final minutes. Oh yeah, and he got to see a Hall of Fame quarterback, and the ultimate gunslinger Brett Favre, in his preseason debut. Brennan, who turned 25 yesterday, made all of his birthday wishes come true. “I want[ed] to meet him” said Brennan of Brett Favre. Okay well almost all of his wishes came true. Brennan finished the day 4 of 5 for 79 yards and a score. In addition to throwing the game winning touchdown to Goode, Brennan also completed a 37 yard loft to Billy McMullen. The golden boy keeps shining.

Second Half, it’s No Name Time

by Dr. Gonzo on August 16, 2008

Three backs are better than one

Three backs are better than one

Dr. Gonzo Live From the Meadowlands,

I’m back from a halftime snack of a burrito with guacamole, which I love.  I forgot to mention earlier that I saw some Jets fans with green cheese heads.  I thought that was pretty clever, the cheese looked a little old and moldy, Favre did not.

The Skins ran the ball well in the first half amassing 126 yards on 13 carries.  Cartwright led the way with 90 yds on 6 attempts.  I wish I had some defensive stats for everyone, but all they give me are updates of offense, sorry.

The Skins start off the second half with a nice drive that ends in a field goal, Collins was 4-4 on the drive.  Rooster, it’s time for you to get excited, ya boy Mason is in the game.

Quick Note: For those of you that have yet to listen to the Pulsecast…start listening to the Pulsecast. Also for those of you that don’t listen I have been out of town for the past week and hence have not written any posts until this guy here. I’m back Wednesday and plan to be working overtime. Also got some big changes in store for the blog which I touch on at the end of this post. Enjoy…

The onside kick struck Khary Campbell in the chest and recklessly bounced into live territory. Freeze Frame. We have seen this picture before. From Norv Turner to the Ol’ Ballcoach to Gibbs 2 we have seen numerous plays in which the Redskins did not seem fully prepared. These mental lapses, whether it be a lost onsides kick, offsides, false start, delay of game penalty, or even back to back timeouts, have plaugued the Redskins over the last decade. Oh wait the plays not over. Game on.

More Power to Ya Colt

by Rooster on July 14, 2008

The Redskins have reached terms with their 6th round draft choice Colt Brennan. Colt was a stand out at Hawaii last year throwing for 4,343 yards and 38 touchdowns and garnering some Heisman buzz before he got injured. With the release of former Terp quarterback Sam Hollenbach last week, and the fact that Colt Brennan jerseys are already being sold on the Redskins website, Colt appears to be the front runner for the 3rd quarterback position.
