Skins Move Up In Power Rankings

Dr. Gonzo Reporting,

The ESPN Power Ranking (however much weight you give them), have moved the Redskins up 9 places from 15th to 6th.  ESPN included all 4 NFC East teams in the top ten.

They’ve come a long way from the “Maroon and Black.”  A long way from having a first year guy who never called plays before.  So much progress has happened since halftime of the NY Giants NFL opener:  the Skins defense has only allowed 7 pts in the fourth quarter all year, oh yea, and Jason Campbell hasn’t turned the ball over at all.  WHAT IS GOING ON?

Have the Redskins finally turned the corner? Have they finally turned their backs on mediocrity?  Are they actually living up to the hype?

Yes,yes, yes and more yes.  Here is the scary part, there are only three scenarios from here we peak now, we peak later or we stay on the top all the way through.

Not every part of my body thinks that the Skins are going to continue this peak all the way through.  At some point Campbell will throw a pick, Portis may miss a couple of games and we might even get upset by the Lions (god I hope not), but it’s how the Skins respond to these almost certainty’s that will define the season.  Hopefully this veteran bunch can put it together for a full 17.

So far so good.  We went in to Dallas and shut down TO, dominated the clock and snuck out with a 26-24 victory over our rivals.  There is no reason not to celebrate, but we as fans must focus on all 17 games, not 4.  And let us not forget a young Gus Frerotte and a 7-1 Redskins team that didn’t make the playoffs (Why Norv, Why?).

So Thank you ESPN. I think?

Oh an by the way, I’m cautiously ecstatic with the Redskins so far.  Oh, yea and HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!!!
