United Shopping for Hardware

by Dr. Gonzo on September 2, 2008

Dr. Gonzo Reporting,

United will attempt to grab it’s first trophy of the year tomorrow night at RFK.  At stake is the US Open Cup’s Dewar  trophy.  Standing in United’s way are the Charleston Battery who play in the USL’s first division, considered by many a minor league team.

United have been notoriously poor in US Open Cup play in recent years instead focusing more on the regular season.  After an early flame out in group play in both the Superliga and CONCACAF Champions Cup tournaments, DC refocused its goal.  This is the most realistic chance for DC to grab a trophy, their only other chance being an MLS title.

1st Half Ramblings

by Dr. Gonzo on August 16, 2008

It’s still the second quarter and the Redskins have the ball.  I’m really looking forward to seeing Colt play. I hope they take the “statue” out soon.

Hang on… Break away run by Rock Cartwright….. he’s down the sideline…. finally tackled on the Jets eleven for a gain of 73 yards.. WOW!!!  As Hank Hill would say, “I tell you what” Cartwright is solid… as a rock.. ha I couldn’t help myself, I heart PUNS!  Oh, no Collins is down.  False alarm, he’s up and walking off the field.  Derek Divine is in as Collins replacement.  Oh, no interception by Devine on his first play of the game.  Devine tried to squeeze the ball between the defense to TE Todd Yoder, but the pass was picked off by James Ihedigbo.  Poor Devine, when he finally gets some burn he’s picked off. Too bad, but he wasn’t gonna make the team anyway.
