Dr. Gonzo Reporting
It was a week that proved it’s ok to be a Redskin, a week that taught us to believe in an underog and yet another week that proved the NFC EAST’s dominance.
Boy, what a week to be a current or former Redskin!
I bet you thought you would never read that Gus Frerotte, Brandon Lloyd and T.J. Duckett all had big weeks in 2008. You’d think someone was out of they’re mind if they said that a month ago, well it happened. “In Gus we Trust,” sound familiar, Gus was once again trusted with a team that was on the verge of dropping to a record of 0-3. Not many teams have bounced back from such a putrid start, but have no fear Gus is here.
Trailing by 10 to Carolina, with the season on the line, Frerotte threw for 204 yards railing the Vikings to 20 straight points. Now I know there are Gus haters out there, my father being one of them, but when I was younger Gus was all we had. I always put my trust in Gus and often I am rewarded. Gus, no one will ever forget your Billy Goat head butt, but in Week 3 of 2008 you are relevant again.
T.J. Duckett and Brandon Lloyd, two former Skins who played in the “Gibbs Squared” era each had big days yesterday. Duckett ran for 79 yards and had 2 touchdowns, Lloyd caught 6 balls for 124 yards and 1 score averaging 20.7 yards a catch. What this all means is that may be just may be, patience is a virtue?
Not for Ceratto, Skins GM and current radio darling who couldn’t wait to get these two guys out of town. I don’t know what Duckett will do for the rest of the year or even what he’s done so far, but Lloyd looks rejuvenated and impressive. Don’t worry though Vinny, Archuleta still sucks.
