Beastn. slang.
a person who is very good at something He’s an absolute beast when it comes to football. v: to completely dominate, usually in a very physical and violent manner Jahvid Best got beasted by Kevin Barnes
All we heard about leading up to last week’s Maryland v Cal game was how Cal’s Jahvid Best was the second coming of Reggie Bush. Either Best isn’t quite all that or the Terps defense is unbelievable because they held Best to only 25 yards rushing. To add injury to insult Best was lit up by Terps CB Kevin Barnes in one of the biggest college football hits this year. The video has already become a Youtube favorite but for those of you who missed it, here it is:
P.S: Best actually pulled an exorcist after this hit spewing some nasty green stuff while laying on the ground in pain. That’s just foul. This video omits said nastiness and instead plays some nice crunk rap in the background. Either way Best got jacked up and Barnes gets Beast of the Week honors.
All is well in our nations capital this week. Maryland upsets Cal, The Redskins get a big win over the Saints, and oh yeah, Georgetown Prep shut out Gonzaga 42-0. Lets get it crackin’.
Redskins Rebound: The Washington Redskins rebounded in a big way on Sunday defeating the New Orleans Saints in front of a home crowd of 90,000 plus. Facing harsh criticism from fans and media alike, Jason Campbell, Jim Zorn, and the Redskins offense took a big step forward in proving that the West Coast Offense can function in our nations capital. Campbell finished the day 24/36 for 321 yards and 1 touchdown, a 67 yard cannon shot to reciever Santana Moss. Campbell completed passes to 9 different receivers but Moss appeared to be his favorite target. Hopefully they can become the next big QB-WR connection in the NFL. ESPN.com Update: Redskins move from 23 to 19 in the power rankings while the Saints go from 4 down to 12. How the hell were the Saints ever at 4? I thought you had to play defense to be in the top 5? Redskins should have been around 15 this week. [click to continue...]
The football gods don’t boo your team. They don’t bring up question after question of why one quarterback is starting over another. These things are left up to the fans and the media. The Football God’s are all powerful, they can completely reverse the ill fate of a struggling program or crush the hopes of a heavy favorite. They crave Parody at any cost, even if they have to merk some cats along the way. So when you see ECU block a punt in the final two minutes against VA Tech, or a UCLA QB throw 4 interceptions only to come back and upset Tennessee, you can bet your ass the Football God’s were present. You see, the Football God’s want Maryland to be good. Really, I promise. How do I know this you ask? Because the God’s have smiled on college park today by keeping starter Jordan Steffy out, and backup Chris Turner in. [click to continue...]
I’m a day late on this one but we have some exciting things that happened last week, including the start of College Football so lets get it poppin’.
Terps squeak by Delaware 14-7: I really wanted to write about this game but was so drunk with rage I felt my words would have come out as mumbled, angry , goggeldy goop. Yes we won, but seeing Jordan Steffy posing as a division one quarterback was excruciatingly painful. We have an alien at receiver and no one to get him the ball. Oh wait, don’t we have that guy that started for us last year who beat Rutgers and BC? Hmmmm….very, very frustrating indeed. On a happier note, Da’ Rel Scott’s a beast. Hopefully we can ride this guy for the first couple of games until the Fridge realizes what a mistake he has made with Steffy. [click to continue...]
Maryland Head Football Coach Ralph Friedgen made a seemingly unpopular decision today to start Jordan Steffy at quarterback over Chris Turner. Steffy was the opening day starter last season but was injured midway through the year. Chris Turner took over and looked spectacular at times, but his inconsistency in both games and practice ultimately lead to The Fridge’s decision. [click to continue...]
Last season for Terps Football proved to be an up and down roller coaster ride. At times the team looked like a contender with impressive victories over #10 Rutgers and #8 Boston College and at other times a pretender losing to North Carolina and Virginia. By crushing N.C state in the last game of the regular season the Terps were able to finish off the year at 6-6 and advance to the Emerald Nut Bowl. That’s right freakin’ Nuts. Friedgen started off his Maryland head coaching career playing for the Orange Bowl trophy in 2001 and now we are at the Nut Bowl. This team, this University, and this state deserve better.
